Mr. Gohain’s debut historical fiction titled ‘The Legend of Lachit Borphukan’, published by Locksley Hall Publishing and represented by The Book Bakers narrates the inspiring tale of the Ahom general Lachit Borphukan in a manner never told before. The book has been acquired for adaptation on screen by the leading production house, Almighty Motion Picture.

Nilutpal Gohain is a bureaucrat by profession and aspires to be a best-selling author, where he has already paved his way with both of his books making a loud noise in the world of literature. Hailing from the beautiful district of Nagaon in northeast India, Mr. Gohain pursued his higher education in Chennai. Mr. Gohain worked in the marine industry for a couple of years before he decided that he wanted to serve his state Assam. It led him to become a bureaucrat with the government of Assam.
Once he finished his quest for bread and butter, he knew what he wanted from life. Though he knew he wanted to be an author, he waited to give it a perfect start. He started his literary journey in 2017, where onwards many of his poems and short stories have been published in print and e-journals such as Muse India, Spillwords, Setu-the bilingual, The Hans India, Poets India, Youth ki Awaz, etc. His short stories have been part of many anthologies, of which ‘A Book Called Home’, ‘City of Screams, ‘A Fallen Leaf’, and ‘Shattered’ are worth mentioning.
His new book has created a buzz in multiple categories as it is a true crime fiction based on a murder mystery. ‘The Rajkhowa Murders’ is a true crime story set in the 1970s in Assam. The author narrates the famous and shocking story of the quadruple murders of the Rajkhowa family. Many readers were shocked to know that this is the only case in the history of Indian Law where a judge has been punished with the death penalty in the same court where he once presided as the Judge.
Nilutpal Gohain was one of the winners of the first edition of the Co-Author Project conducted by Half baked Beans. As an outcome of the project, he co-authored a dystopian thriller ‘2035’ with Shruti Jain (A resident of Canada). The book is doing well with positive reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. The book also won the Best Sci-Fi Novel for the year 2021 by Sharing Stories Book Awards.
Talking about his future projects, the author is already working on upcoming projects. One of which will tell the stories of indigenous ghosts of Assam. Mr. Gohain says horror fiction is his favorite category, and now we can smell some amazing horror projects coming out of his pen after two amazing historical fiction.
