When you pick a book focussing centrally on the theme of luxury, there is already a sense of awe in your subconscious mind. As we all are aware that luxury is something a mere dream for the mere mortals and when a masterpiece centered on luxury is about to go through your eyes, you have to shrug off the mediocre thought-process as you are mentally prepared to witness some astonishing moments which may seem completely untrue to our scarcely believable eyes. It may seem a little bit funny as an author comes under the radar when his masterpiece gets into the hand of a reader but here the case was completely different. I felt myself under immense pressure as a reader that am I even deserving enough to read such a masterpiece which has been not been just endorsed by the Ratan N Tata and Bollywood Megastar, Amitabh Bachchan, himself apart from the Chairmans, CEOs, Presidents of the giant global corporates like PepsiCo India, RP-SG Group, FICCI, CII and editors of prominent media houses like The Hindu.
My all preconceived notions withered in a fraction of a second witnessing the lucid language used by Mr. Brahma to elaborate luxury as it’s a common man’s possession. Describing every scene as we have reached into that era ourselves and not we are just able to feel the luxurious items but also it seems that we are caressing that object with our bare hands. Whether it be the story of Rolls-Royce or Rolex every story takes us into that era where the prime possession was a matter of pride. Giving the voice to every single luxury possession in the story just gives us a different sense of jade. But the real mastery of Mr. Brahma comes in the form of his expertise as a seasoned luxury commentator who takes us into the dark alleys of these luxuries.
