A veteran of the merchant navy, an author, and a serial entrepreneur, Captain M.S. Chadha set sail towards multitasking with the ardent belief that he is ‘walking in his purpose’. A sailor’s life is full of hardships mostly borne out of being away from society, cramped conditions, fighting the waves of the sea on the outside and the turmoil of emotions within, deviating oceanic weather, and cascading between the charm of the marine life and dangerous encounters. It all somehow leads to a unique perspective toward nature, imagination, and life. Perhaps, this very fact steered the ingenuity within the creative acumen of Captain Chadha and equipped him to pen his thoughts on paper.
The year 2019 was marked by the devastation of covid, and when the Captain was trapped on a ship outside the comfort of his home country, India discerned his path towards writing short stories to inspire people struggling between protecting their mental well-being and contemplating suicide. A writer over several years and having penned down numerous short stories earlier, writing this novel was a uniquely unusual experience for Captain Chadha. Grappling through the influx of constant news of models, actors, and people from the starbiz committing suicide, created the emergence of ‘Noor’, the story of a girl who faces a challenge in her entire life and yet surmounts them all. The book required plenty of research and took almost two years to complete. Across oceanic expansion of changing waves, altering weather conditions, coursing through ports, land, and water, the story of ‘Noor’ kept flowing in the imagination of Capt. Chadha, taking a concrete form on the paper.
The tale of ‘Noor’ is not a typical Cinderella story, it is laden with multiple layers of goodness and unpleasantness, and despite all odds, the protagonist’s spirit is to endure it all and win over. The story revolves around the music industry, and for a sailor, it amounted to a great deal of research where he chased a music director for four continuous months before she relented and opened about the reality of the glamorous industry. Just as the saying goes ‘Facts are stranger than fiction’, there are a lot of similarities in the fictional novel that can be traced to the truth. An important part of the story is set up in Dubai and Capt. Chadha flew to the city of skyscrapers, ports, and beaches, to ensure credibility to his storytelling.
A strong believer in ‘when there is an intention to make the world a better place and give hope even to one soul, one is walking in the right direction’, Mr. Chadha lets his soul of imagination run free and through his flair for writing across genres, continues to churn inspiring stories for the readers. A compulsive multitasker always on a roll, Captain Chadha is already headed towards his next book, an analogy of stories of heroes from across the world. Having published a novel, working on the analogy of short stories, and a military thriller, Captain Manmeet S Chadha is all geared up to start his YouTube show named ‘The Other Side Show’, where he plans to interview people who have chosen the less trodden path and urge them to share their story, experiences, and insight to the world.
