A literary event in one of the most prestigious institution of the country which could be none other than the IIT is always welcomed with unparalleled enthusiasm and vigour. And when this is the serenity of IIT Jammu, the enthusiasm is on an exponential high. The Saturday of 3rd September got distinguished itself from the other Saturdays as it witnessed the literary aficionados gathering together at OAT to hear words of wisdom from their favourite authors. The Writers’ Meet was organized by Literia Insight in association with The Dramatizers, IIT Jammu. The event witnessed various authors from different cities who shared their thoughts and views on the various aspects of literature.
The major attraction of the event was the Panel discussion, Book Launch, Book Signing, and felicitation of authors. The event was also attended by the various faculties who also shared their experience and awareness of writing, and they also appreciated such literary events which are organized in the city of Jammu. The event kickstarted with the welcoming of the authors by presenting them a bouquet as a token of love after which Amitash Ojha from Department of Humanities and Social Sciences shared the need of reading habits and appreciated students for attending a literary event. The event further had speeches from Shireen Sultana, Darshan Desale and Gaurav Srivastava.
Vikash Raj Saxena and Nitish Raj represented the Literia Insight whereas The Dramatizers were represented by Jyotiraditya. The event was graced by Shireen Sultana, Darshan Desale, and Gaurav Srivastava and due to some unforeseen reasons, Prashant Pandita and Jyoti Jha were not able to attend the event. Prashant Pandita; the author of The Jhelum Boys was represented by Rhythm and Jyoti Jha was represented by Nitish Raj who is also the editor of “Aanandi”.
During the Book Launch, “Karma” by Darshan Desale, “The Jhelum Boys” by Prashant Pandita, “A World Divided” by Shireen Sultana, and “Aanandi” by Jyoti Jha were launched in the presence of eminent guests. The Book Signing got the maximum enthusiasm from the students as they got a chance to interact with their favourite authors. The event got concluded with the felicitation of authors and prize distribution to the students who had taken part in the competition organized by The Dramatizers.
