It was a moment of euphoria for the young brains of the Memesis Theatre Society, Daulat Ram College; University of Delhi when they get to have the celebrated ‘Ranjish Hi Sahi’ fame Writer-Director, Pushpdeep Bhardwaj mentoring them. Mr. Bhardwaj had his esteemed presence under The LIT Tour initiative by Literia Insight where Writers Meet Directors and have a discussion on Books, Drama & Screen.
Pushpdeep Bhardwaj is an Indian film Director and Screenplay Writer who has worked predominantly in Bollywood. Graduating from NIFT Mumbai in Fashion Communication, Pushpdeep’s heart was always set in the entertainment industry. After numerous stints in theatre and having written, directed and acted in several short films, Pushpdeep got the opportunity to write and direct Jalebi, starring Rhea Chakraborty and Varun Mitra. The film was produced by Vishesh Films and was presented by Mahesh Bhatt. The Film was released in the theatres in the year 2018 and it went on to post phenomenal figures on the OTT platform, Amazon Prime.
Having completed Jalebi, he wrote and directed his first web series for Jio Studios, which marked its debut in the OTT space, Voot Select, in January 2022, and is garnering praises widely. The finite series, starring Tahir Raj Bhasin, Amala Paul and Amrita Puri is a love story set in the 70’s Mumbai film world.
Pushpdeep has also written the additional screenplay and dialogues of Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt starrer Sadak 2.
The event started by congratulating Mr. Bhardwaj for the unprecedented success of Ranjish Hi Sahi and soon got into groves by having a discussion on the various facades of scriptwriting, the role of good stories and marketability of your skills in order to get success in Bollywood. The event also comprised of Nitish Raj; Co-Founder, Literia Insight who shared his insights on the various facets of literature and necessary ingredient of writing along with the role of literary agents in order to get your manuscript adapted. The Panel also had ‘Aanandi’ fame Jyoti Jha and Krupa Somani whose Dating Jiya has been a fan favourite. Both the authors not just shared their experience as an author but also shared the necessary struggles to succeed as an author. Vikash Saxena; Founder, Literia Insight also shared about the necessity of struggle in an author’s life.
The event which was held under the guidance of Bhawana Gaur; President, Memesis Theatre Society got very beautifully hosted by Sucharita Chatterjee and ably supported by Vanshika and Gargi Sharma during the zoom session and undoubtedly the enthusiasm of the students made this an event to be imbibed in our thoughts forever.
