My Tale of Love

A small-town girl, with a beautiful heart, was waiting for her prince charming, who would appear from the sky and take her along to his world of happiness. She believed in her deeds, was encircled by values and sacraments and a firm belief that once her aspirations would be heard by the sky. Pakhi, fair but a little chubby girl with a miraculous smile was on the verge of stepping out of the protective the periphery of her father and embracing the one who would be chosen by God for her.

She simply said yes, to the one who came to her doorstep with a smile and positive aura. Aditya, who was handsome and charming, knocked on her heart. The difference in the heights did not come in between the chemistry which was flourishing the bond created by God. Both of the families came in contact with each other via a matrimonial website and soon decided to form a relationship for the life.

Shy and introvert Pakhi was on the seventh cloud and Aditya was unable to hide his happiness that was beyond the horizon. Their courtship period was sailing them towards each other, and they both wanted the world to go on a snooze while their eyes were describing the tale of their love. This arranged marriage was having its own beauty and for both of them, the sky was always having the colours of a rainbow.

One week before the sacred wedlock, a Land Rover hit Pakhi and threw her on the other side of the road. All the happiness and the charm faded away in a moment when she found herself in the hospital surrounded by her family members. Her eyes were looking for someone who became her life in a while. A new family who loved her like their daughter was nowhere in the corridor…

She hopefully looked at her father, and he responded, “His family was here the entire night, but you were unconscious and hence I forced them to go and have some rest. They were equally worried fir you like us.”

The answer from her father was not acceptable to her, and she decided to walk directly towards the dwell of her heart. The moment she tried to put her feet down, reality snatched the ground beneath her feet. She was about to fall when her father took her in his arms and revealed to her the bitter truth that took her happiness along. Her left foot got cut after that accident. Tears streamed down her eyes, left her in the state of Saudade.

Her eyes waited for him, but neither he came nor he took the calls.  She decided to call off the divine Union and move on with fate. Her heart was battling with the mind because all she felt in those days were still alive somewhere in her heart. She was expecting him to accept her the way she was, but the pain became unbearable for her to take any call. Her eyes always remained on the door, but he never showed up to see her once. Shattered and sad, trying to abide by fate, she accepted the fact which was piercing her heart.

On the day of their wedding, she was hiding her face in the pillow as the tears were drenching her from the core when a sudden knock on the door broke the silence. He was standing at the door with something wrapped in a beautiful roll…with a rose in his hand. He handed her the packet and when she opened it, it was an artificial limb.

She looked at him with countless questions in her eyes, but his one question erased all my doubts. When he went on his knees and asked,  “Will you be my Valentine for the lifetime?” And everyone appeared from somewhere to celebrate that wonderful moment.

The tears played the role, and I said, “Yes!” and hugged him back.
