From Fiction to True Crime: The Journey of Sujata Sapre and Dr. Anandajit Goswami

Sujata Sapre was born in Mumbai and has studied Economics and Journalism. She was always passionate about writing and literature. She worked in the field of education, cultivating young minds for the media industry. She has been deeply fascinated by the subject of crime and psychology. Her debut novel (fiction) is a thriller and the Amazon Bestseller, “At the Break of Dawn”. After writing the psychological thriller, she has now deep dived into the non-fiction crime, exploring the minds of the criminals involved. Her recent book, true crime story, The Pune Serial Killers, extensively dives deep into the old terrorized town of Poona of 70’s. The book not only talks about the serial killer gang of the 70s but also delves deeper into the criminal minds who were college-going kids. The book has been co-authored by Anandajit Goswami.

Dr. Anandajit Goswami is a Professor and Director of the Manav Rachna Centre for Peace and Sustainability and a Research Lead at the Ashoka Centre for People-Centric Energy Transition, Ashoka University. He holds a PhD in Energy Economics and Policy from TERI School of Advanced Studies and a master’s degree in International Trade and Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has worked extensively in the fields of energy policy, sustainable development, and economic research, collaborating with organizations such as the United Nations, World Bank, and various Indian government ministries. His research has contributed to policy-making in areas like energy transition, climate change, and development economics. Apart from academia, Goswami has authored both academic books and fiction, including works on science fiction, sustainability, and social themes such as gender identity (e.g., Pink Gender Extended), and has been awarded multiple times for his books as a best writer in the fiction category. He is the founder of the TOHRI Foundation and is actively involved in philanthropy and activism related to environmental and human rights issues. In addition to his academic and literary career, he is also engaged in music, filmmaking, and social campaigns, using creative platforms to promote sustainability and social awareness.
