Books! Authors! Editors! Readers – A conglomeration that every literary enthusiast craves for! And this craving becomes more significant and special when it comes to one of the most prestigious technological institutions of national importance, and that could be none other than the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra. Writers’ Meet organized by The Literary Mirror in association with Colours: A Happy Place, Mental Health Awareness Club of NIT Kurukshetra in the grand auditorium of Jubilee Hall came as a fresh whiff of air to bring the aficionados of literature together, where they get a chance to immerse themselves not just in the countless stories of books but also the varied experience of the author and editor who were invited to enlighten the young minds.
The Writers’ Meet started with an address by Anjali Taneja, Assistant Professor & Counselling Psychologist, where she talked about the necessity and importance of mental health in youngsters and the role of enriching your personality. The event was then followed by a Panel Discussion with Aanandi fame Jyoti Jha and Nitish Raj; Editor-in-Chief, The Literary Mirror, where Ms. Jha talked about her writing journey, women empowerment, and the writing process, whereas Mr. Raj talked about the various facades of literary magazines and the role of literary magazines in shaping the culture of reading in literary enthusiasts.
In order to lighten the mood, there was a performance by one of the students who mesmerized the audience with his soulful voice. After which, the readers were blessed to have the Book Launch of Heart Sanctuary & Other Stories by Ms. Jha, along with a talk on her story collection.
As the event was not just about the guest authors, two young literary minds were also awarded for their literary prowess as they were the Winner & Runner-Up of the Creative Writing Competition organized by Colours. The students not only got a chance to have their books autographed by Ms. Jha, but also they were fortunate enough to purchase their favourite books of different authors, which were on display after the customary photo session, which made the evening a memorable one.
