Souvick Mukherjee, a startup founder and author, has been passionate about writing since his very childhood. has been writing poems and short stories right from his childhood days. During his college days, back in 2013, he got published for the first time when his short story, ‘The Silent Beckons’, was published in an anthology.
Well, it didn’t end here. Souvick continued to write. He focused more on poems and short stories. He showed them mainly to his near and dear ones. One day, while reviewing his collection, he conceived the idea of publishing another book. This time, however, it would not be a full-length novel, but rather a collection of his stories. He began handpicking some of his best write-ups. He sorted a total of twelve stories. Thus, ‘The Butcher’s Pets’ was born.
The stories in this book occur in different places in India- from the crowded streets of Old Delhi to the serene beach of Kolkata’s Prinsep Ghat to the villages of Bihar. Each story adds a new shade to the canvas of feelings. The last story, which is also the title of the book, is a short tale that ends with a question for the readers.
