In “The Disciple,” Doctor Niu Kwan leaves a successful career in science and water technologies. He travels to China, seeking guidance from Tong Long, a well-known Kung Fu Master.
Following his father’s advice, Niu searches for Zhang Jin, a river guide familiar with Tong Long’s area. During their journey, Niu discovers Zhang’s hidden martial arts skill and water knowledge. As the trip concludes, Niu abandons his search for Tong Long, considering Zhang as his mentor.
Under Zhang’s instruction, Niu learns advanced Kung Fu techniques based on water movement. Eight years pass, and a familiar face reappears.
Samantha visits Li Jian, Niu’s training location. Their bond strengthens on her last night there, moving beyond the physical. Samantha returns to Seattle, and Niu feels a sense of loss. Zhang then reveals his connection to the late Tong Long.
Niu returns to Seattle to propose to Samantha, but she is gone. Two decades later, Niu greets a young man who looks like him; he realizes history repeats itself.
“The Disciple” is a compelling story of self-discovery, love, and martial arts. Will Niu find his answers, and will he reunite with Samantha?
