IPS Vikas Vaibhav is among those exceptional leaders who have set an example with his unprecedented level of service to people and society.

IPS Vikas Vaibhav’s heart was set on joining the civil services since his childhood and the desire only became stronger when an incident while he was in class seventh in Samastipur, Bihar, helped him realize how power and responsibility can bring about order amidst chaos. Treading onto the path of achieving his long-term goal, he went on to compete in the IIT entrance and joined IIT Kanpur in the Mechanical Engineering stream. Upon completion of his course, instead of using his esteemed degree and brand to grow from strength to strength, he envisioned joining the struggle of bringing change in the increasingly unstable world around him. The deteriorating condition of law and order and education reinforced his dream of joining the bureaucracy even when he was studying engineering. Passing the civil services exam in a single attempt with his grit, determination, hard work, focus, and discipline, he joined the forces as ASP in Hyderabad in the year 2003. And then there has been never looking back since then.

In the year 2005, IPS Vikas Vaibhav joined as SP in the Bhagalpur district of Bihar, and over the next few years, he continued to fiercely work along the districts of Aurangabad, Danapur, Patna, Bagaha, Rohtas, Darbhanga, and Purnea. In 2011, he started working as Superintendent of Police at National Investigation Agency, and in 2015 he became the Senior Superintendent of Police in Patna. Initiating his journey as assistant to the Inspector General of Police, Patna, he continued to hold the position of Deputy Inspector General of Police in the Eastern Range, Bhagalpur, and Bihar. As the Deputy Inspector General of Police at Anti-Terrorist Squad, Bihar in the year 2020, he then went on to become the Special Secretary of the Home Department, Government of Bihar. In the year 2022, he was appointed as the Inspector General of Homeguards and Fire Services, Bihar. His service record is laden with stories and incidents of bravery where he put the halter on crime mafias and dacoits of Chambal, cleansed the Naxalites from Rohtas, and hounded criminals in several cities and villages. A pro-people who organized regular ‘Darbars’ to hear people’s pleas and complaints, he has been one of the most loved, respected, and celebrated IPS officers who has transcended awareness and consciousness in people’s hearts with his virtue, goodness, and modesty.

While his earnest demeanor in the profession earned him tremendous regard, the strength of his scholarly approach brought him enormous popularity as a celebrated public figure on various platforms.
